This is the short (but more complete) article from which some phrases were extracted in our recent course announcement.
Most of us are probably pretty good in keeping up with computer operating system updates. The new features generally work better, and the manufacturers and app developers eventually stop supporting the old systems, anyway.
Our conceptual operating systems (aka knowledge paradigms) are, in principle, not so different. The new ones work better in current reality, and the old ones become increasingly ineffective anyway. We know that computer systems are being constructed as by well-paid geeks on plush tech campuses, perhaps with planned obsolescence, so change is not surprising (albeit annoying).
